I am going to Disney World next month for the first time and need some ideas on where to make reservations to eat. My boyfriend and I are staying in the Animal Kingdom and we also have the dining plan. Any suggestions?

If you are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you ABSOLUTELY without a doubt have to eat at Boma! I absolutely guarantee you will love it. Boma is at the Animal Kingdom lodge, the dinner buffet is one of the best meals at Disney, and with your dining plan, in my opinion your best value.
I am not sure how many days you are going to be in Disney World, but let me also offer a quick run-down of the best bets "around the world."
For the Magic Kingdom, IF you can obtain a lunch reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table (in the castle), go for it - just to be able to say that you ate in the castle when you get home will be a lasting memory for you and your boyfriend. Also at Magic Kingdom, if you like character dining (where you eat your meal and are visited by the characters at your table), Pooh and friends are at the Crystal Palace buffet, while Liberty Tree has Goofy, Minnie, Chip, and Dale. Tony's in Town Square is also very good if you like Italian.
Disney's Hollywood Studios has some good choices. It depends on your preference, but my favorite there is 50's Prime Time Cafe. The theme there is what makes the restaurant a great dining experience, plus the food is pretty good "home style" meals. Sci-Fi is a restaurant where you can eat in a "car" as if you're at an old drive-in theater. Not sure about your budget, but the Brown Derby is a "Signature Dining Experience" at the Studios. You can actually trade-in two of your table service meals for one Signature meal. I would lean more towards quantity if you are wanting to get the most out of your trip, but it's up to you. Mama Melrose's is also pretty good at Studios, they serve Italian style foods.
At Epcot, well, let's just say whatever your favorite type of food is, they have it - Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Moroccan...the table service restaurants around the World Showcase are cream of the crop, and you will definitely get great value out of your dining plan. The best restaurant there is the Japanese steakhouse (although it is not a participant in the dining plan), the food is AMAZING and the presentation is even better! There are two character dining locations - Garden Grill in The Land Pavilion, and also Restaurant Akershus in Norway has various Disney Princesses. Both are decent food quality, again, it depends on your taste. Le Cellier in Canada is an excellent place to eat also if you enjoy a steakhouse with outstanding cheese soup (trust me, it's worth it!). Also, in the United Kingdom pavilion, The Rose & Crown is great. Afterward you can walk into the courtyard and listen to a live band "British Invasion" playing Beatles tunes. This is especially fun with your favorite "beverage" of choice! Sort of like an outdoor concert series.
Another answerer suggested ESPN Club and Planet Hollywood. I would not recommend this. If you want to go there, then that's fine. However, in regards to your dining plan, it's just not good value (the food is not that great in comparison to the Disney restaurants). Plus, you can go to one of those restaurants anytime in a number of place throughout the country. The Disney Dining experience is more than just the food, it's the show and the atmosphere. I think you will understand when you visit, the service is unparalleled, and the quality is second to none.

Set up a refreshment bar and stock it with typical movie theater candies, like Sno Caps, Twizzlers, Milk Duds and Raisinets. If you regularly use a video camera, instead of "Coming Attractions," use video camera software to put together a gag reel of home videos. Try to incorporate footage that includes any guests in attendance. Use the feature film as a theme for the rest of the party. If you watch Harry Potter, give out Wizard-themed goody bags. If you watch Willy Wonka, be sure to have plenty of chocolate on hand.
