home theater wall paint ideas image

Contractor is redoing our den walls (it's paneled and he's Sheetrock + painting over it). Any ideas or suggestions as to anything that we should build into those walls before they are put up (i.e. speaker/theater wiring so no wires for that stuff for surround sound), any other suggestions related to electronics or anything to get put in b4 walls go up? Room will be used as home theater room / play area / relax.

Well I would seriously consider placing at least 2 stereo wire jacks (RCA style) on each wall, maybe 4. The reason for that is you could then rearrange the furniture down there at any time and move the speakers accordingly. If you have 4 jacks on each wall on a central wiring system and a stereo amplifier powerful enough to hit each one you would be able to set up your room in anyway you want. A friend of mine did this with his new house and it works out rather well and I thought it was a very smart idea. Also with said wiring hookup you could actually have your players on an entirely different wall then the screen (as long as you aren't using HD because the longest connection you can have for that is about 6ft unless you want the picture to suffer). This will allow you to have the TV as the center point of focus while your watching movies/TV with no distracting electronics around it.

I want to turn our tv room into a full home theatre with a projector, a projector screen, and speakers. I want speakers that hang up in the ceiling corners of the walls and I want a big projector screen. What are some good stores that I can buy all of this stuff, And what are some brands to look for?

If you go to Best Buy - find one with a Magnolia store inside. Magnolia was bought by BestBuy a few years ago but they specialize in the better equipment and installs.
You can also look on Bing/Yellow Pages for "Home Theater" and find specialty stores that do the equipment and installs for you. Be sure to ask if they have installers certified by CEDIA - a organization that trains and licences home theater installers (Many home alarm companies will also install your home theater gear for you - poorly) These companies want to sell you the gear they know how to integrate - and it's probably a good idea to let them. There is lots of good gear out there but having someone install things they are used to tends to work better.
You might also want to check out AVS Forums and Home Theater forum as these sites have areas for people who have dedicated a room to home theater. There are .... issues ... you may not know about and inexpensive ways to do things right.
For example:
* Do you know how to place the seats in the room to give everyone good sound and avoid problems?
* Do you know what colors to paint the walls to minimize glare/reflections?
* Do you know good places to buy long HDMI cables to feed that projector?
* Do you know to buy seats with low backs to avoid ruining the surround sound effect?
* Do you know to run telephone and internet cables to your rack because more and more devices want internet connection? (Apple TV, Google TV, Netflix Streaming, etc.)
* Do you know where to buy movie-poster box's and popcorn machines to accessorize your HT room?
