Answer
When dealing with low frequency drivers it is very unlikely that you will find a generic subwoofer enclosure for home audio. Low frequencyâincluding subwooferâenclosures are designed for each specific low frequency driver model.
In order to obtain the proper enclosure that will yield the best performance for your (subwoofer) drivers will require either the brand and model number(s) or the Thiele-Small parameters for your drivers. Any respectable manufacturer of low frequency, moving-coil transducers (aka drivers) will publish Thiele-Small parameters for their transducers. (In the rare case when a manufacturer fails to publish the Thiele-Small parameters you may still be able to obtain the parameters by measuring the drivers yourself. If you want or need to learn how to do this you should obtain a copy of Vance Dickasonâs âLoudspeaker Design Cookbook.â)
If you are lucky enough to find a ready-made subwoofer enclosure, and/or eschew using the Thiele-Small parameters, then the only remaining option is to utilize a closed box / infinite baffle enclosure (design) of sufficient volume and tweak the âeffectiveâ enclosure volume by varying the quantity of acoustical damping material inside the subwoofer enclosure. Below Iâve provided a few sources for custom loudspeaker enclosures that may be useful for you.
You should also consider searching for a local custom cabinet or woodworking shop that is capable of fabricating the subwoofer enclosures you need. Also check with your local trade schools and technical colleges - they often offer inexpensive services to the public. Finally, contact your local pro sound dealers â they occasionally deal with custom loudspeaker enclosures; if not they may be able to help you find a shop that makes custom loudspeaker enclosures.

(Note: it is unlikely that these enclosures will work for any drivers other than Dayton brand drivers.)

Decorate Bedroom Like Theatre?
Renegade L
I love Theatres, both live and cinema, and I'm moving into a new home, with a relatively small bedroom, I am absolutely in love with the idea of a bedroom that has the feel of an old-school Theatre or Cinema. My concern is the size of the room. What design tips do you have for me?
