No offense to answer one but knowledge of Where you are isn't strictly relevant. I had my own theater company in Washington State a few years ago, and the first thing we did was solicit the area for donations, even offering free admissions.
Check with Churches for rentals or loans of folding chairs. Check with catering companies, perhaps with a warehouse of furniture they may want to upgrade, and have old to deal with. Check with other theaters. I was involved in the remodeling of Seattle Opera venue and they GAVE away Hundreds of very plush seats.
Do fund raisers to BUY white resin chairs, OR offer the possible patrons, a chair in their name for a donation.
Beyond seating on chairs, and depending on your budget and commitments, seek advice or aid from your local chamber of commerce. In the beginning, offer "Cheap" seats if you have to in home made bleacher style. Get your "Company" involved in scouring neighborhoods, garage sales, Aunt Agnes and her garage, etc. etc. etc.
Your best resources are going to be your patrons in the end. I put out a "call List" before any performance, asking for donations and loans, and certainly on a lobby poster gave due credit to anyone involved, as well as comp tickets.

Home Day Care Essentails?

I am about to open a home daycare ...can anyone give me any ideas on items that they purchased for their daycare that they can't live without and items that you've purchased that makes your daycare so much better than the compettion... things that the parents/kids rave about... parents can you give me ideas on things you wish your daycare had ... that would make the daycare better for your children.. example: toys, games, ideas?

First is the stuff to keep kids safe. You need a first aid kit, outlet covers, and safety locks for the cabinets. If you plan on taking toddlers invest in a toilet seat lock. A toddler is top-heavy and can easily drown in a toilet. You'll need a cot, mat, or crib for each child.
As to program- I know they are expensive but you really need a set of wooden unit blocks. They will last forever and offer great learning opportunities. You'll need accessories such as cars and trucks and people to go with them. A good sized dollhouse is always a draw.Go to discountschoolsupply.com for good deals.Sign up for their weekly e-mail. There are usually great sales. This is the best place to get consumables such as paint and paper. Their Colorations brand stuff is pretty good, but stick to crayola crayons.
You need a child sized table and chairs. If you are planning on taking babies invest in low chairs. They are like high chairs but they are on the same level as the table the kids use. It makes it much easier for everyone to have meals together.
You need puzzles, ranging from simple to more difficult. Also. manipulatives such as lego and other building sets.
Find a way to provide sand or water play. If you don't have room for a water table use a dishpan. Cover the table with a flannel-backed tablecloth, flannel side up. That will absorb spills.
You need a dramatic play area with a child-sized kitchen and all the accessories to go with it. Those cute kid sized pot and dishes are cute but you gewt more for your money and it is more realistic if you stock up at the dollar store. Don't forget some dress-ups for boys and girls.
Books and more books! Good books, not based on cartoon or TV characters. Provide a cozy corner of the room with some cushions as a reading area. Enrich it to a reading and writing area with a small desk with papers of all kinds, alphabet stamps, a picture dict0ionary, alphabet stencils, envelopes and stickers to use as stamps. A computer is nice but not a necessity. If you have one limit each child to 20 A puppet theatre encourages creativity and language development.minutes or less a day.
Some live plalnts and a small animal or some fish make the place look homey and provide science experiences.
An easel is imperative. If you don't have floor space you can find the ones that hang on the wall. You'll need the paint pots and brushes to go with it. The kids need access to art materials to allow them to create on their own, not just when you have planned an activity.
