Joshua Speed was a close friend of Lincoln's and had been Lincoln's roommate in Springfield, IL for years and his brother James was Lincoln's Attorney General.
Locust Grove, also offering tours, was the final home to Louisville's founder and Revolutionary War hero George Rogers Clark. Clark younger brother, William Clark, explored what is now the northwestern United States with Meriwether Lewis. Locust Grove has been visited by Presidents Monroe, Jackson, and Taylor (whose gravesite is also in Louisville at the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery).
The house that inventor Thomas Edison lived in while living in Louisville is open for tours. Edison was a telegraph operator for Western Union and moved to Louisville when he was 19. Some of Edison's inventions are also on display at the house.
The Speed Art Museum features European paintings by Rembrandt & Rubens, sculpture by Rodin, Modern Art by Cézanne & Picasso, and Contemporary Art by Henry Moore. It also features an entire room from a 17th Century home moved to the Museum from Devon in southwestern England.
The Frazier International History Museum is featuring "A Slave Ship Speaks: The Wreck of the Henrietta Marie" through May 26th. The second floor's permanent collection features Daniel Boone's family Bible, the bow attributed to Geronimo, the ivory-handled pistols of General George Armstrong Custer and the "Big Stick" of President Theodore Roosevelt.
The third floor of the Museum consist of the Royal Armouries Collection, the only location of a United Kingdom National Museum outside of the UK.
