I have smoked a lot of weed and love it and now I want to try shrooms. How long will the trip last because I don't know how long I'll be away from my parents? Also should I be worried about a bad trip or negative side effects? When I smoke weed I can act normal in front of people so will I be able to walk in and buy a ticket without people knowing?

Answer
You should get on erowid and do a little research on mushrooms before you eat them first, its always a good idea to fully understand what you're getting into. I recommend smoking (carefully) on the way to the theatre. Arrive about thirty minutes early, and eat your dose in the car. About 2 grams should be sufficient, an eighth if you want to go balls to the wall. They will taste bad so you should bring peanut butter to help stomach them, and some orange juice after will help them kick it. After ingestion, you have approximately twenty to sixty minutes before they kick in, so calmly buy your ticket and take a seat. There are possible negative side effects, be warned, but keeping a positive, calm outlook will help combat the mental ones. In other words, stop worrying about a bad trip and you won't have one. Most likely you'll experience nausea from the mushrooms, there's not much you can do about that except hope that the weed balances it out. A shroom trip should last about 8 hours, so don't plan on going home anytime soon after the movie, make sure you have a sober friend to drive and look after you, if it's not too cold where you live I recommend spending some time outdoors, nature is beautiful. You will probably be acting weird, but nobody jumps to conclusion you're tripping, and should leave you alone, just make sure you're not in possession of anything illegal. Your friend can take your hand and lead you out of the theatre if need be, using the excuse that the 3D effects made you feel ill.

Be careful though, I'm assuming you're still in high school because you mentioned parents. Don't do anything stupid, make sure there is someone sober to watch your back, and turn your cell phone off for the duration of the trip, you can deal with reality when it comes back to you. If you're too young, say under 17, and an inexperienced tripper, I'm apprehensive of recommending you try this is public, but seeing a 3D movie like that will seriously blow your mind.

Instead of Avatar, why not wait a few months? You can research the drug, find a trustworthy hookup, and be ready in time to catch Alice in Wonderland in IMAX 3D. Now there's a trip!

If you have any further questions, I'll be glad to help. Only through gaining proper knowledge and preparation can you be a responsible drug user :)
