We r building a house. Im planning to setup a theatre..currently d room dimensions r 3.93x3.53x3 (lxwxh) in metres..will it suit for a home theatre ? Or can u suggest a great dimension nearing these so tht I can correct it..or what would be a good dimension...d height s 3m fixed..

1H x1.9w x 2.5L or 2.74m x 4.11m x 6.86m is an average good ratio for a room; but it also depends on the size of the room. the ratio can also vary for the size of the room...Also room dimensions are not as critical as you might think because a lot has to do with what the wall floor and ceiling are made of; if there is carpet or not the amount of furniture in the room and what type of furniture wall treatments windows etc these will actually have a greater effect unless the room is square or something too dimensional....The most modern thinking is that variable dimensions work best a vaulted ceiling for example a; stepped floor covered in carpet with riser seating; walls that are non parallel but that expand to a greater distance apart as they move to the back of the room...you can compensate for non ideal room dimensions by using bass traps in the corners also vary the material on the walls some carpet some wood some plaster columns etc...also movable seating positions that can be adjusted once you have a better idea of where your standing waves are...

It all depends on what you can afford ($15,000...$100,000...etc) and how many people you want to entertain. A bigger home theater is going to require bigger speakers, possibly more speakers, more amplifiers, a bigger display, more furniture and of course a house that has a bigger room.
When you say you can afford anything you do realize that you could easily spend $250K on high end audio equipment and speakers to fill a large room. A pair of Von Schweikert speakers can run well over $100K.
Ideally you want a room that has a higher ceiling and ideal room dimensions. A cube is the worst shape and anything that has dimensions that are multiples of one another is not good for accoustics (ie: 20x10x10). A good sized HT that will seat 6-8 people might be 16x12 with 9 or 10 ft ceilings. If you wanted one with a bar at the back or a pool table 22x16 or so might fit.
Best thing to do is to draw it out first and get the dimensions of the furniture that might go into the room. Take into account what HT equipment you have or will buy including the size of your display. The first row of seats should be about 1.5X the screen widths back from the screen.
Bigger is better for bass. If you can afford anything and are looking to have maybe 2 or 3 rows of 4-6 seats. Then a 30' long by 18' wide by 12' high would be awesome. Make the walls non parallel, build seating risers, have a fiber optic star ceiling, a stage with motorized curtains, have a bar in the rear with a popcorn machine, use remote controlled dimming/lighting in a few banks, have a 10-12 foot wide screen and some nice Berkaline seats to fill everything out and you'll impress a lot of people. Plan to spend in excess of $50,000 on equipment, furniture and construction for something like that. A real fancy decorated one might go above $100K.
