However, this auditorium is 16 million dollars with great acoustics, If someone stands on the stage and talks in a normal voice he/she can be heard in the back row, so i was thinking that we wouldn't need very loud speakers

Q. hi, i asked many of you for a good subwoofer enclosure specifications. no one gave me a good answer.

I've done this with great success. It's not as easy as, '...3/4" MDF 12"x18.5"x.....place the driver 3.75"from the bottom inside dim...'. There are many factors that make building that cab more involved and rewarding. If you google "subwoofer cabinet design" or similar searches, you will come up not only with designs, dimensions, materials, etc., but you'll learn a lot about sound and drivers (speakers). For example, are you willing to go large on the cabinet? If not, you can design a tuned port "bass reflex hole". This compensates for lack of overall air volume inside the cab. With the right tuning (path that the sound energy takes to exit the cab) at your target frequency, both sounds from front and back of the diaphragm will leave the cab "in phase" for and effortless powerful deep sound. I chose to use volume and size, since it was my garage theater. I used a 15" 1200w sub driver, and built a cab about 22" deep by 24" wide by 26" tall out of 3/4" MDF, and doubled up on the MDF, making the walls 1 1/2" thick. I think it was about 100lbs. With an 1100w bridged mosfet amp strapped on the back, it would make the hair on your arms raise and your body feel the action. I designed it by doing research, learning about "Q" and sound theory. There are many enthusiasts out there who blog and post and share. Build an "active" sub. Good luck!
